The 3rd OMGD-CDR INDIAN THEME DINNER
by: Sanjeeb Gopaldas
The Royal Indian Curry House located in the prime city of Makati in the Philippines was the venue for the 3rd OMGD–CDR Indian Dinner. The theme of this event was based around an informal dinner party at an Indian home. Guests were served a variety of dishes family style in keeping with the more casual theme.
Standout dishes were the Papdi Chat, a popular type of Indian street food that has been around since the twelfth century; Nepalese Momos: A steamed dumpling stuffed with chicken and spices and served with a sweet chili sauce and Hyderabadi Biryani: One of the stalwarts of the Royal Cuisine of India. Basmati Rice cooked with pieces of Mutton and incased with Puff Pastry.
Since this was a BYOB event, guests brought their own wines and beer that each felt were best paired with the food, like European Lagers, Pilsners, Rieslings and Chardonnays.
The dinner on the whole was a good change of pace given the restaurant’s more casual and understated atmosphere. Everyone who attended enjoyed the good food and relaxed vibe of the event.
