Date: November 13, 2018
Venue: Cafe Ysabel Restaurant
Location: 175 M. Paterno St., San Juan City
Our final dinner event for 2018 brings us to a familiar, yet new venue – Café Ysabel at its new location on Paterno St in San Juan – as well as a repeat of a theme that we last did 6 years ago – pairing Filipino cuisine with wine.
How often have we heard it said that Filipino food does not match with wine? Yet that dinner held by the OMGD in 2012 disproved this popular misconception and revealed such surprising pairings like sinigang na ulang with cava, and kare kare with gewurztraminer.
Our confrere and Echanson National, Chef Gene Gonzalez, has prepared a sumptuous feast featuring a mix of favorite Filipino dishes from Café Ysabel and Lasap, and some exotic regional fare from places like Pampanga, Bicol, Davao and Tawi-Tawi:
Five different wines – prosecco, brut sparkling, chardonnay, pinot noir and cabarnet sauvignon – will be served to pair with the dishes. But only those who sign up for the dinner and actually attend will get to know which wines pair with what dishes. It promises to be a highly educational and enjoyable evening for all participants.
Due to the meticulous preparation involved, we can only accommodate a maximum of 40 guests for this dinner, so please reserve early and send your payment on/before November 7, 2018 - first come, first served. Please note that we can only guarantee slots of those with paid reservations.
